Here we have a rare Torito de Pucara from Peru, made of mahogany wood with sterling silver accents. To find one made of beautiful hardwood with all sterling silver ornaments is rare; nowadays these are made of ceramic pottery. Toritos de Pucara' were at one time used as roof ornaments in Peru. Prior to moving into a newly constructed house, the new owners might place two bulls in the middle of the peak of the house and facing in the same direction as the house with a cross rising between the two for a symbol of protection and happiness. If you travel to Peru, you will notice them in small villages, especially in the town of Pucara', placed on the roof for good luck and for fertile crops and livestock. They are also given as presents to those for whom you want to wish good luck and prosperity.
This "toro" stands about 6" tall by about 6" long, and 2-1/2" deep.  Weighs a little over a pound.
Wonderful mint condition toro, perfect for bestowing a wish of prosperity.
