    Artifact Info: Tupu (pin), PreColumbian, South Coast Peru, Chancay, 1100AD to 1400AD. Hand-carved from a single bone and highly polished. This would have been worn with clothing in ancient times by the Andean culture to fasten textile garments.
    Carved animal at top, most likely a monkey finial, featuring a head, 4 legs and a tail.
    Size: Large, 8-3/4 inches.
    Material: Highly polished bone.
    No restoration, fully in tact.
    Condition: Minor nicks, abrasions, cracks, patina, earthen deposits commensurate with age. Very good condition, a beautiful piece. The top with the carved animal is fragile and thin at the legs.
