Kero or Peruvian Ceremonial Vessel -carved in wood
This piece was carved in wood by Peruvian artisans
The Kero is a ceremonial vessel, usually made of wood, of a truncated cone shape, wider at the mouth than at the base,
typical of several Surandine cultures. They were also called as a stick drinker, wooden vessel and wooden chalice. It is an ancient Inca vessel for drinking liquids such as alcohol, or more specifically, chicha. They can be made of wood, stone, ceramics, silver or gold. Many represented diverse scenes, like military facts, political alliances, rituals or simple scenes of the daily life. Others, only showed in their design geometric figure.
