    Description

A qiru also written kero, quero, locally also qero is an ancient Inca container for drinking liquids such as alcohol, or more specifically, chicha. They can be made of wood, ceramic, silver or gold. They were traditionally used in festivals in the Andes.
The qirus were decorated on the first layer with a shallow pattern on the cup. The pattern was then filled in with a durable, water-resistant mixture of the plant's resin, and pigments such as cinnabar. The finely incised lines would meet at the intersection points, creating shapes such as triangles, squares, and diamonds. . The forms are organized in two, three or four horizontal registers. This kero is carved in stone by the artisans of Cusco
