    Description

This beautiful pottery piece is from the artist Semongue from the town of Chulucanas, Peru which is located near the foothills of the Piura Highlands in Northern Peru near the Ecuador border.  This pottery piece is 10" high and has an approximate diameter of 13".  The artist has chosen a wildfowl theme.
Chulucanas pottery uses Precolumbian art techniques that were developed more than 2000 years ago in the northern coast of Peru.  The Chulucans use a technique that provides a variety of shades from light to dark.  This coloring is obtained by using fresh or dry leaves from banana or mango trees as fuel in the second firing of the pottery.
This pottery piece was originally imported by Raquel's Collection.
